As a child, sexuality and sensuality was always a taboo subject. When entering my adult life, however, I was suddenly confronted with the realities of romantic and sexual relationships. Something that was once forbidden had now become readily available and somewhat unavoidable. Throughout these early adult years, I have had to discover and rediscover what sexuality means to me, and these images are a portrayal of this. In You Were Made For Me, I explore the human body and the idea of sex through a series of abstract images of skin, eyes, mouths, and sheets. In all of the images, I am in close proximity to the subject to further portray the intimacy within these private moments. The utilization of black and white and stark and soft lighting heightens this feeling, and explores the ideas of intense lust versus gentle love. Throughout the project, images shift in and out of focus, changing size as well. This ultimately displays the changing of emotions, intimacy, and level of consciousness one experiences during sex.
